You have read the books. You have tried the strategy a friend swore by, the one from the podcast, the one the last provider handed you on a worksheet. And some days it still feels like you are failing a test nobody gave you the study guide for. If that is you, please hear this first: the fact that you are looking for support is not evidence that you are a bad parent. It shows you're committed. Here is the reframe at the heart of parent coaching: you are not the problem to be

Most educators and professionals genuinely want to support the neurodivergent people in their care. What they are often missing is not goodwill; it is practical, affirming, real-world training that goes beyond awareness and into "here is what to actually do on Monday morning." That is the gap our workshops are built to close. We offer professional training for schools, agencies, nonprofits, healthcare teams, and community organizations that want to understand neurodivergence

You know the feeling if you have lived it: you walk into an IEP meeting with your heart in your throat, you are the only person at the table without a title, and everyone else seems to speak a language built on acronyms. You love your child more than anyone in that room, and somehow you still leave feeling like you lost, or like you agreed to something you did not fully understand. Here is what I want every parent to know: you don't have to do this alone, and you don't have t

Sometimes you do not need to start a whole new program. You need one hard thing figured out. A behavior that keeps everyone stuck, a plan that isn't working, a situation that repeats no matter what you try. That is exactly what a behavior consultation is built for. Unlike ongoing therapy, a consultation is targeted and time-limited: we bring expert eyes to a specific challenge, make sense of what is actually going on, and leave you with a clear, usable plan, without a long-te

If you are considering an evaluation for your child, you've likely been carrying a question for a while, something quiet that keeps coming back. Why is school so much harder for my child than it seems like it should be? Why does something that comes easily to other kids feel like a wall for mine? An evaluation is often the moment families finally get to ask those questions out loud and get real answers. Here is the reframe that helps most: an evaluation is not a verdict, and

If mealtimes at your house have started to feel like a standoff, the same three foods, the gagging, the meltdowns, the quiet worry while everyone else insists your child will "eat when they are hungry," you are not imagining how hard it is. And you are not doing it wrong. Here is the truth that changes the whole conversation: for a lot of children, eating is not a willpower problem or a manners problem. It is a skill-and-safety problem. When we understand that, the pressure c

For a long time, mental health care treated neurological differences like autism and ADHD as problems to be corrected. If a child struggled, the goal was often to make them behave more like their peers. If an adult felt overwhelmed, the advice was usually to try harder to fit in. Neurodiversity-affirming counseling takes a different starting point — one grounded in respect, not repair. What "neurodiversity" actually meansNeurodiversity is simply the idea that human brains nat

When people hear "mental health," they rarely picture a baby. Yet some of the most important mental health work of a person's whole life happens in the first few years — long before a child can talk about how they feel. Understanding this can change how we support our youngest children, and it is one of the most hopeful areas in all of developmental care. Yes, babies have mental healthInfant mental health refers to a young child's developing capacity to form close, secure rel

If your child has ADHD, you have probably heard — or maybe said yourself in a frustrated moment — some version of "You could do this if you just tried harder." And then watched your bright, capable kid struggle with the very same task the next day. Here is the truth that changes everything: for children and teens with ADHD, the issue is rarely effort or intelligence. It is executive function. And executive function is not a measure of how hard someone is trying. What executiv

If you have searched "ABA therapy" lately, you have probably run into strong opinions on every side. Some families describe it as life-changing. Some autistic adults describe older forms of it as rigid or compliance-driven. As a parent, that can leave you unsure what to believe — and unsure whether ABA is right for your child. At Optimal Behavioral Health Solutions, we want to be clear about the kind of ABA we practice, because the field has grown and changed, and so has the

Many parents come to us with a worry that sounds something like this: "My child wants friends, but they freeze up, melt down, or avoid other kids altogether." Often there is a label attached — social anxiety, shyness, social skills deficits — and a hope that if we can just teach the child the "right" things to say, the problem will ease. The desire to help is exactly right. But the most effective path is usually not what people expect. Lasting social confidence does not start

For students with disabilities, few moments carry as much weight — or as much worry — as the move from school into adult life. The structure, services, and safety net that surrounded your child for years can thin out quickly after graduation. The question that keeps parents up at night is a fair one: Will the progress we worked so hard for actually hold up once school is over? That question is the heart of good transition planning, and it is the reason we approach it the way
